Transition Network is delighted to be able to present the first in an occasional series of pdf only ‘How to’ guides, focusing on the experience of the Lewes Pound, and how to set up a similar scheme.

Looks like our "assignments" of who is researching what have changed since Nov 12 posting below . .
Ithaca Hours & Anacostia Hours: ____________ (need someone)
Time Bank: Lore R.
Berkshares/Potomacs: Bob F.
Fourth Quarter Exchange: Cary C.

Angela still wants to be part of our group, but due to health problems does not want to commit to any research right now. Shirley would prefer to focus on other aspects of the Transition Movement that excite her more. . . . .

Cary hasn't joined our NING yet . . .

REPORT ON OUR FIRST MEETING - Thurs, Nov 19
Present: Bob F., Cary C., Shirley M., Lore R.

We heard initial reports from Bob (Berkshares), Shirley (Ithaca Hours), Lore (Time Bank). Several people had purchased The End of Money and were starting to read it.

We talked about how we envisioned an alternative currency being used in Greenbelt.

We think it may be a good idea to invite a representative of each of the local currencies (Potomacs, Anacostia Hours, Columbia Time Bank, Fourth Corner?) to come, one at a time, and make a presentation on how their currency is working in their community.

(This would also be a good way to publicize what we are doing and recruit some additional folks to our working group)

Our homework: continue our research on our assigned currency. Reach out to the local folks, to at least touch base and let them know what we are doing.

Cary agreed to begin research on Fourth Corner . . and also to call some of the folks from Anacostia Hours.

Bob will contact everyone about a next meeting, in early January, after the holidays.

Hey Chris and everyone . . . I would prefer we leave this WALL for us to put short postings about our actual "Greenbelt Alternative Currency Research Group" that is meeting at Bob Fireovid's house. For longer posts about more general issues of economics, I suggest we start separte DISCUSSIONs (see above).

Chris, I hope you don't mind, I moved all of your recent postings to "Weekly Columns by Chris Belchamber". I also posted all of the emails you have been sending me. Thanks!

"Full audit of the Federal Reserve" has 309 co-sponsors in congress and according to Rasmussen, 75% of Americans are in favor of this bill. So why do you think we are unable to get this to a vote?

A reminder from Bob Fireovid. It looks like Cary Coppock and Bob Snyder do not have assignments yet . .

Again, our assignments are...
•Shirley – Ithaca Hours & Anacostia Hours
•Lore – Time Banks
•Bob F. – Berkshares/Potomacs
•Angela – Fourth Quarter Exchange

I'm with the Anacostia Hours organization, and today at a Mt. Rainier event two people mentioned to me that there is a group in Greenbelt studying local currencies.

We are happy to share our experience so far, if you are looking into using Hours or setting up another local currency in Greenbelt.

Best wishes to transition town Greenbelt,
